Premier Package

The largest package available from Sage Journals

Sage Premier was designed with and for librarians to provide great savings off list prices for individual journals. Sage Premier is the largest journals package offered by Sage. It includes international, peer-reviewed journals, including high-impact research titles published on behalf of 350 scholarly and professional societies. Listing of titles added and removed for 2024 Premier

• Electronic access to more than 950 peer-reviewed journals (over 1 million articles)
• Content ownership of the subscribed content published by Sage during the term of the agreement
• Complimentary access back to 1999, where available, is included while a current subscription is maintained
• Quality new content added to the package annually

Alumni Access 

University alumni may have access to the content hosted on Sage and CQ Press platforms through their university library, based on their university's current and active holdings. All alumni registered with subscribing or purchasing libraries will be able to access these resources, including more than 1,000 scholarly and professional journals at no extra fee.

University libraries already support current students and scholars with access to online resources through both on-site and remote services. This license extends this offering to alumni via IP address, ATHENS, or SHIBBOLETH through the institution’s account. Sage does not have the information or systems necessary to authenticate an individual as being an alumnus of a particular institution. Because of this, institutions will need to manage the authentication process and provide alumni with a route through the institutional IP network or with an ATHENS or SHIBBOLETH profile. Please contact your designated sales representative with any questions.

Digital Rights Management

"Reasonable Amount" shall mean not more than ten percent (10%) of any individual book or journal issue where these are included in a database, and not more than five percent (5%) of the total database content.

Humanities and Social Sciences Package

The Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) Package provides access to 750+ journals, including leading international peer-reviewed titles, many of which are ranked in the Journal Citation Reports (Source: Clarivate, 2023)*. Sage offers more choices—all on one familiar platform—to better suit the demands of your consortium members for Sage journal content.

The HSS Package includes the following:

• Access to 750+ journals, encompassing over 760,000 articles
• Over 75% of the package content is ranked in the Journal Citation reports (Source: Clarivate, 2023)*
• Complimentary access back to 1999, where available, while a current subscription is maintained
• COUNTER-5 compliant usage statistics

Science, Technology, and Medicine Packages

The Science, Technology, and Medicine (STM) Packages provide access to 330+ journals, including leading international peer-reviewed titles, many of which are ranked in the Journal Citation Reports (Source: Clarivate, 2023)*, in three packages: STM, Health Sciences, and Clinical Medicine. Sage offers more choices—all on one familiar platform—to better suit the demands of your consortium members for Sage journal content.

The STM Package includes the following:

• Over 82% of the package content is ranked in the Journal Citation Reports (Source: Clarivate, 2023)*

Gold OA Package

Sage Gold OA titles are now offered separately as the “Sage Gold OA package”. Please remember to load this into your ERM. Usage reports show only usage from paid titles. Ensuring discoverability at your institute is easy. Customer-specific KBART files are provided by Atypon, so you can upload your exact entitlements. If you are selecting packages simply select both the Premier package and the all-Gold OA package.

There are 210 titles in the 2024 Gold OA package.

Open Access Sales Agreements

Special note for Open Access Sales Agreements: Please note that not all Gold OA titles participate in Open Access sales agreements. See our current 2023 list of Gold OA journals that do participate.

Backfile Packages

Sage Backfile Packages include electronic access to more than 650 peer-reviewed journal backfiles and over 967,000 articles. This is a one-time purchase with upgrade opportunities and a minimal hosting fee. Coverage is through the last issue of 1998 back to volume one, issue one* (content from 1999 to present included with a Sage Premier subscription).
