Arrangements:

German Academic Institutions

Sage has an agreement with the German Academic Institutions for subscribing consortium members. The agreement will run (commencing 1st January 2021) between 2021 and 2023. The details of the agreement are as follows:

To qualify for the agreement, the corresponding author must be affiliated with an institution participating in the German Academic Institutions consortium agreement and have an article accepted for publication between January 01, 2021, and December 31, 2023. The participating member institution list is available here.

Subscription journals: Corresponding authors publishing an article in 900+ subscription journals* which offer hybrid open access publishing (Sage Choice) and are included in the package their institution subscribes to, can be published open access free of charge. Please see the participating institution list for eligible journals. Charges other than the author article process charge (APC) may still apply, please refer to individual journal submission guidelines.

Authors in subscription journals do not need to take any action to benefit from this offer. Sage will contact all eligible authors informing them of the Open Access agreement with the German Academic Institutions and invite them to the Sage Open Access Portal to take up the offer as soon as their accepted article has been received into Sage’s Production department.

Gold open access journals: Corresponding authors publishing an article in a gold open access journal are also entitled to a 20% discount on the prevailing article processing charge (APC) for that journal. (Sage’s 150+ participating pure Gold Open Access journals)

Click here for the participating Gold journal title list. This discount will be applied automatically in the Sage Open Access Portal. Where an author is eligible for more than one discount, discounts cannot be combined but the highest discount available to the author will be applied to the APC due.

*The exact number of titles will vary depending upon the individual institution’s subscription package.

Max Planck Society

Sage has an arrangement with the Max Planck Society to cover the article processing charge (APC) for authors affiliated with an institute of the Max Planck Society. The agreement will run (commencing 1st January 2021) between 2021 and 2023.

The details of the agreement are as follows:

To qualify for the agreement, the corresponding author must be affiliated with the Max Planck Society and have an article accepted for publication between January 01, 2021, and December 31, 2023.

Subscription journals: Max Planck authors can publish open access in over 900+ hybrid journals (included in the 2023 Sage Premier package). Max Planck Society centrally covers the highly discounted APC for affiliated submitting corresponding authors.

Authors do not need to take any action to benefit from this offer. Sage will contact all eligible authors to inform them of the arrangement and invite them to the Sage Open Access Portal to take any additional steps required to publish their article open access.

Gold open access journals: Corresponding authors publishing an article in a gold open access journal are also entitled to a 20% discount on the prevailing APC. Click here for the participating Gold journal title list.
