Here is something really worthwhile but rarely seen: a useful book on qualitative research methods.
This book offers a welcome focus on the theoretical underpinnings of the major qualitative methods allowing students to thoroughly engage with the rationality behind the approach to analysis. Each chapter is full of useful examples of research and the extensive references give students plenty of guidance on what to read next. This is a very useful text for developing research awareness and critical thinking skills, not just because it offers students to reflect explicitly on a critical response to the content, but because of its explanatory writing style.
Of the many books about qualitative research, this one is particularly engaging to read. It will be useful to the novice as an introductory text and to experienced researcher as a refresher. The book's structure allows the reader to compare the characteristics of each method and examples of how each could be employed.

This is a very useful guide to the wide range of qualitative methodologies and methods that are often used. It links well with analysis of findings and can be of use to a wide range of Postgraduate students and also some Undergraduates.
A great introductory book for students who are making decisions which qualitative method and methodology to employ for their research. It is a solid overview of most popular qualitative methods. The chapters are well discussed and key issues for each method are explored.

Several articles, e.g."Grounded Theory" and "Methodology and Methods" will be recommended for further reading. The articles as well as the whole book provide complex and extensive informations presented in a comprehensible manner. Rubrics like "leaerning objecitves" and "key points" frame the texts and make them accessible for students with different research epxerience.
Helpful overview of qualitative methods from a health/nursing perspective - useful for discussions where students are covering similar issues and subject matter.
The subtitle of this book says it all: It is a basic, but very thorough practical guide to the different qualitative research methodologies. Especially for students designing their first qualitative research study it is an excellent helpful introduction to these methodologies. It is written in a very user-friendly and understandable style. The usefulness as a textbook is enhanced by the inclusion of the many student activities, critical thinking questions and practical qualitative research examples. Highly recommended for undergraduate students.
A good basic guide to a range of qualitative research methodologies
This book is particularly useful during the early stage of designing a qualitative study. Using a scaffoldings approach it addresses the foundations of qualitative research followed by an examination of the different qualitative methodologies. The third and final section concludes with a number of practical strategies for planning a research study. Certainly useful to a range of students in particular the novice but equally those more experienced that require an accessible source of reference.

This book is ideal for undergraduate students embarking on a qualitative research project for the first time. The chapters are littered with practical examples and the activities and critical thinking questions allow the student to apply the key concepts to their own research in a way that de-mystifies the research process.
A very easy book to follow
I am using one general textbook for qualitative and quantitative research and one another textbook for internet research. Jane Mills' book Qualitative Research will complete this set and give my students broader view on qualitative research.

An excellent text which introduces a range of qualitative methodology in an understandable way. Very useful for undergraduate students undertaking their dissertation unit; I would definitely recommend.
