Designing and Managing Your Research Project
Core Skills for Social and Health Research
Emerging researchers need a range of specific skills to plan and successfully complete their research projects. While there are multiple books available on methods, there is much less information on the key skills needed to complete a project.
Designing and Managing Your Research Project provides information about the key areas needed for a successful project. It includes software skills, developing research objectives, writing proposals, literature reviews, getting ethics approval, seeking funding, managing a project, communicating research findings, and writing reports. There is also a chapter on working as an independent researcher.
Designing and Managing Your Research Project includes numerous examples, checklists, and practical exercises designed to assist the learning of research skills and the completion of crucial project tasks. It covers procedures needed for conducting projects electronically and accessing information from the Internet.
This book is designed to complement texts covering quantitative and qualitative research methods in health and social sciences. It will be particularly useful to advanced undergraduate and graduate students planning theses and dissertations and other researchers in the early stages of their career.
This is a great book for students at the beginning of any design project. The structure of the book allows students to dip in and out of it. This makes for a very useful book to use in conjunction with other research literature.
Excellent resource book.
A useful book as a supplement to others. Good for students with very little social science experience.
a good book that covers all the key elements required when desinging and planning research projects
There are so many well-established books in this field that I hesitate to add new ones to the booklist. However, this new arrival goes beyond the 'how to write a dissertation' approach, making it particularly useful for advanced postgraduate and even doctoral students. Definitely a worthwhile addition to this burgeoning field.
A useful book. Its structure allows grasping immediately a general picture of how to design and run a research project.
I good intro text for students studying research in the early stages of their course. They can return to the text at later stages as their skills develop.
This is amongst the book that I am using in my course. One of the few book that touch the project management aspect of social science research.
This book will be useful for students in their second year who have to complete a project. The book has an easy to follow style and includes some examples that will assist the students to develop their work
A useful book for Masters and PhD students
