I have found this book to be very useful when supervising students in their dissertation. It has helped me explain very clearly what it is they need to do in each aspect of their research project. I have also recommended to the students that they use this book due to the clear and accessible way that it has been laid out and written.

This is a great book for helping students to understand what is expected of them and helping to begin to plan their project. It is well structured and helps to alleviate their anxieties of getting started.

This builds on the 1st edition which has been used as a very helpful introductory text for social work students undertaking their dissertation. I am not convinced the sketches add value to to the text!

A useful text for students who need a little more guidance over and above the guidance offered by university briefings sessions. Easily accessible and for me made the topic of independent study fun!
