Successful Qualitative Research: A Practical Guide for Beginners is an accessible, practical textbook. It sidesteps detailed theoretical discussion in favor of providing a comprehensive overview of strategic tips and skills for starting and completing successful qualitative research.

Uniquely, the authors provide a "patterns framework" to qualitative data analysis in this book, also known as "thematic analysis." The authors walk you through a basic thematic approach, and compare and contrast this with other approaches. This discussion of commonalities, explaining why and when each method should be used, and in the context of looking at patterns, will provide you with complete confidence for your qualitative research journey.

This textbook will be an essential textbook for undergraduates and postgraduates taking a course in qualitative research or using qualitative approaches in a research project.

For years I have been recommending Braun and Clarke´s
paper "Using Thematic Analysis in Psychology" to students-with good results. Now with their book "Successful Qualitative Research" learning and teaching qualitative methods has become much more comfortable. The authors have written a highly practical book with many exercises, e.g., on their great accompanying website. But Braun and Clarke also introduce very differentiated a philosophy of qualitative methods and they do all so enthusiastic, that the reader is positively infected.

We've been recommending Braun & Clarke's 2006 paper on thematic analysis for a few years now, so it's great to have their pracitical approach to qualitative research extended to book form.
It's very readable with sound theoretical and practical advice

It is a comprehensive text for qualitative research beginners. I particularly find the sections of reflexivity useful.

This is engagingly written and provides sound advice for novice researchers and helpful worked examples. I have long recommended Braun and Clarke's method for thematic analysis. However, I couldn't spot anything about the dual stance of a researcher and professional person eg nurse who would be under a duty to act if a participant disclosed something that raised a safeguarding or patient safety or fitness for practice issue.

This is very well-designed as an introduction to qualitative research textbook for undergraduate students. It includes all the steps of the research process. There are detailed, illustrated descriptions for each method. Very good research examples and exercises are provided for students.
