Rajeev Batra is the S.S. Kresge Professor of Marketing at the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. He previously taught at Columbia University. He has a Ph.D. from Stanford, an M.S. (Advertising) from Illinois, and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He worked as a Brand Manager with Chesebrough-Pond’s (now a part of Unilever).He is well-known for his extensive published research (with co-authors) on brand coolness, brand extensions, brand love, brand meaning, corporate branding, global branding, brand-building by emerging market multinationals, and private label brands. He has also published widely on emotional advertising, integrated marketing communications and cross-cultural consumer behavior. He is the co-author or co-editor of nine other books. His publications have won numerous awards for long-term impact and have been cited over 40,000 times in the academic literature. He was named a Fellow of the Society of Consumer Psychology in 2023.
