European Journal of Inflammation

eISSN: 20587392 | ISSN: 1721727X | Current volume: 23 | Current issue: 1 Frequency: Yearly

European Journal of Inflammation is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal publishing research across the full spectrum of inflammation sciencefrom fundamental mechanisms and biomolecular pathways to translational studies and clinical research. As a multidisciplinary platform, the journal welcomes mechanistic and molecular investigations and pre-clinical studiesincluding in vitro work, animal models, and other experimental approachesalongside translational, clinical, and patient-focused studies. The journal publishes research spanning immunology, pathology, pharmacology, omics, and related disciplines with direct relevance to inflammation and inflammation-associated disease.

The journal places strong emphasis on mechanistic depth and methodological rigour, and it particularly welcomes cross-disciplinary research that bridges basic, translational, and clinical science.

European Journal of Inflammation is committed to methodological rigour, transparent reporting, and reproducibility. Our goal is to publish sound science. This means we look for research that adheres to ethical standards, uses robust methodologies that are transparent and reproducible, and uses appropriate statistical analyses to ensure clear, credible, and trustworthy results. We care more about the quality and reliability of the contribution an article makes than we do the size of that contribution. European Journal of Inflammation evaluates manuscripts based on how the research was conducted and reported.

The journal provides broad international visibility through indexing in Clarivate Analytics Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE), Scopus, ProQuest, and the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). As a fully open-access journal, all articles are freely available to readers worldwide, enabling wide dissemination and discoverability.

The journal is a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

For more information on the journal’s remit, please see the Aims & Scope tab.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion statement

European Journal of Inflammation promotes inclusive, open science that reflects the disciplinary, human, and geographic diversity of the research community.

Diversity as a core value embodies inclusiveness, mutual respect, and multiple perspectives.

We welcome editors, editorial board members, peer reviewers, and authors from all backgrounds, cultures, ethnicities, nationalities, races, religions, sexes, sexual orientations, gender identities, mental or physical (dis)abilities, ages, career stages, socioeconomic status, or any other individual status.

We are committed to continually improving our editorial and review processes whilst playing our part in eradicating bias and inequality in all forms.

European Journal of Inflammation is a multidisciplinary, peer-reviewed, open-access journal committed to advancing knowledge of inflammation in health and disease. Our mission is to provide a dynamic platform for research that spans disciplines and fosters collaboration across basic, translational, and clinical science.

The journal publishes high-quality studies that explore the mechanisms, biomarkers, clinical manifestations, and therapeutic modulation of inflammatory processes. We welcome submissions covering the full spectrum of inflammation research, including but not limited to:

• Immunology and immune regulation

• Cellular and molecular mechanisms of inflammation

• Experimental and clinical pathology, including chronic inflammatory diseases

• Pharmacology of inflammation and therapeutic development

• Biomarkers, diagnostics, and clinical management of inflammatory conditions

• Neuroinflammation and neuroimmunology

• Metabolic, cardiovascular, respiratory, and gastrointestinal inflammation

• Infection and host–pathogen interactions

• Microbiome–immune–inflammation networks

• Systems immunology and multi-omics approaches

• Ageing, senescence, and inflammageing

• Cancer–inflammation interactions

• Biomaterials, tissue repair, and regenerative medicine

• Environmental, nutritional, and lifestyle influences on inflammation

European Journal of Inflammation aims to be a hub where researchers from biology, medicine, pharmacology, biotechnology, chemistry, data science, and biomedical and materials engineering exchange insights that accelerate innovation. We particularly encourage work that bridges traditional boundaries, integrates diverse methodologies, or offers novel translational perspectives.

We welcome submissions that:

• Combine basic and clinical science

• Integrate multi-omics, imaging, AI, modelling, or data science

• Link mechanistic insights to therapeutic development

• Explore crosstalk between immune, metabolic, neurological, and endocrine systems

Article types include original research, reviews, systematic reviews, case reports (particularly those with a mechanistic focus), and brief reports offering novel insights from small-scale studies or introducing new methodologies (e.g., imaging, omics, computational tools).
