This book gives a very thorough yet easily understood account of all the key concepts - a fantastic resource.
This is an exceptional text, which provides a grounding in a wide variety of methodologies that support students to draw upon contextual examples when establishing their own rationales for selecting and developing their research methodologies. The examples for how to engage with 'data' once gathered also presents a powerful and inspiring array of examples to inspire and inform students.
Part of the new triple edition Handbook of Research Methods, for which these authors are famous. This volume gives a tremendously detailed overview of the tricky areas of qualitative data collection and interpretation. I cannot fault this book for breadth or depth.
A very insightful overview of data analysis for qualitative inquiry. I believe a great text book for those who just started their project as it guides new researches to consider various possibilities in unraveling their data in the future.
I chose this book as a more specialised text for Foundation Degree students; however close inspection reveals that it is a content heavy book more suitable for postgraduate students. Thus, I will recommend particular chapters for another course I manage on research methods for those wishing to delve deeper into under-used qualitative methodologies. There are real high points in this text, the introduction is a superb overview of the current challenges facing qualitative researchers. Other chapters in part one meriting mention are those on narrative enquiry, and analyzing talk and text.
An excellent book and a must read for serious researchers. I would suggest that it is more suitable for Master’s level students.
Can be used in isolation or as part of the set of 3 texts. Would recommend to undergraduate and post graduate students.
Although this book has in-depth information on qualitative research methods, it would be more suitable for postgraduate students. However, I would recommend sections of this for some of my more academic dissertation students. I would also recommend this to our postgraduate research students.
Denzin & Lincoln, highly celebrated authors in the field of qualitative research, make this book essential for students at MA level who wish to consider these methods.

This is an excellent resource for graduate researchers whose area of enquiry is in the living world of interpersonal practice and human experience.
What can one say about this book that has not already been said by many others. It is an essential text. This latest edition is considerably updated from the previous one
This book is part of a series relating to qualitative research and focuses on the collection and interpretation of data. Part 1 covers methods of collecting and analysing with nine chapters of different approaches, for example, oral history, narrative inquiry and focus groups. Part 2 covers interpretation, evaluation and presentation with eight chapters with differing perspectives. It is enlightening and thorough but the writing is too dense for Undergrads. It is much more suited to Masters and Postgrads due to the complexity of ideas and perspectives presented.
This is part of an excellent series of texts relating to the collection and interpretation of qualitative materials. I have recommended this book (and the series) to my students as novice researchers who are grappling with the dynamic nature of qualitative research
Useful source for the qualitative aspects of marketing research, but will need to be balanced with texts related to qualitative as well.
Really useful book for 3rd year students undertaking their disserations.
Also recommended for post-graduate students.
