This is a great companion for students studying for their BA in Childhood studies. I feel it is especially beneficial for students who have returned to education after a break.
Brilliant lots of case studies and to think about sections throughout the text to reinforce understanind of subject area.
Interesting read, with a good overview for anyone considering studying early childhood. Useful for learners studying at level 4 to 6.
A useful book giving a plethora of relevant and necessary information for students regarding study skills. The practical issues and case studies are pertinent. The front cover would benefit from a picture/photograph.
A fantastic resource which offers examples and guidance for academic writing. The section which translates phrases from every day conversation into academic language is especially helpful. Idea for students studying Early Childhood Studies, Learning Support or Education at Foundation Degree or Degree level.
For the theory part of the TA Level 2 and 3 courses this text is excellent and will be well used in my sessions
An excellent book which clearly outlines what students need in order to be successul in their studies. I am sure they will dip in and out of it over the period of their Early Childhood degree.
A good guide for EY students.
Would recommend for students. Chapter 3 on producing a good assignment is particularly useful, it is a clear & concise guide. Interesting information about refencing, could have perhaps been in a bit more detail. I liked the case studies throughout the book, they give the personal touch for students.

This book fills a much needed gap in the toolkit for early childhood studies students. It is extremely well laid out, informative and supportive with excellent key points highlighted in the text. The questions raised are entirely relevant to students' needs and don't patronise or over simplify. The case studies highlighting what the tutors are really asking are spot on and raise challenging questions for the students and supports them with strategies and skills for them to be successful. Highly recommended as an essential text for all early childhood studies students.
A very good book for students studying early childhood courses. The book gives lots of ideas on how to tackle course work, and enables the students to reflect by giving them 'things to thing about'
I wish this book had been available at the start of this academic year. I feel it will be a great assett to those writing assignments for the first time as well as developing understanding of working with children. The chapters fit so well with my course criteria I will be bringing it to the attention of all my learners
This book has an excellent list of recommended reading and useful internet sites which have been grouped together. As students sometimes have difficulty discriminating academic sources. Good advice given for graduates after their degree. This is an easy read and gives pertinent advice and tips on how to develop and succeeed in academic research and writing related to childhood studies. Excellent case studies and examples bring this text to life. As first year tutor I would highly recommend this book to all students.
