Dr. Ioannidou is a clinical scientist with training in Periodontology. Her research addresses clinical and translational questions related to the interactions between periodontal and kidney diseases. Recently, she developed a new line of research on gender equity in academia exploring trends in recruitment, retention, promotion, compensation and scholarship. She played a leading role in founding the IADR Women in Science Network. Dr. Ioannidou serves dental education as a Tenured Associate Professor of Periodontology and the Director of the Dental Clinical Research Center at UCONN Dental. Dr. Ioannidou has been actively publishing and lecturing nationally and internationally on her research.
