Build Inclusive Syllabi

As you endeavor to build DEI in your course curriculum, an important step is to build an inclusive syllabus.  The syllabus, as the learning contract between the instructor and students, sets the tone for the course, so building it in an inclusive way indicates to the students that DEI is valued in the course.  There are several ways to make the syllabus inclusive, from sharing pronouns (if you are comfortable) or drafting discussion ground rules to including information about disability and accessibility accommodations and so much more.

There are ample resources for building inclusive syllabi, decolonizing your syllabus, etc.  Some are discipline-specific and others are more general, but they are available online at numerous university centers for learning and teaching.
