SAGE Publishing partners with Biola University to publish three prestigious religion journals

January 11, 2018

SAGE Publishing, a leading independent academic publisher, today announces that it is to begin publishing three theology journals on behalf of Biola University, a leading Christ-centered liberal arts university in California, US, from early 2018.

The three highly respected and established religion titles cover key aspects of theology, from education and psychology, to the practice of spiritual formation. They are:

  • Christian Education Journal, which strengthens the conception and practice of education in church and parachurch settings. It does this through encouraging reflection on the foundations of Christian education and implications for ministry practice, and exploring the integration and application of social science theory and research to educational ministry concerns.
  • Journal of Psychology and Theology, which communicates recent scholarly thinking on the interrelationships of psychological and theological concepts, and considers the application of these concepts to a variety of professional settings.  It is listed in the Social Science Citation Index and has an Impact Factor of 1.019.
  • Journal of Spiritual Formation and Soul Care, which provides a forum for the theory and practice of Christian  formation and soul care through scholarly publications that are rooted in biblical exegesis, systematic theology, the history of Christian spirituality, philosophical analysis, psychological theory/research, spiritual theology, and Christian experience.

Lee White, Vice President, University Communications and Marketing at Biola University, remarked:

“When making the decision of where to house our publications, we were looking for a publisher who would not only increase the reach of their content, but who would foster their development, ensuring that they continue to remain relevant and accessible in the future. With SAGE, a publisher firmly committed to supporting the global dissemination of research, we have every confidence in the continued success of our journals.”

Miranda Nunhofer, Executive Director, Humanities and Social Science Journals, SAGE Publishing, further commented:

“These highly regarded publications from Biola are very welcome additions to our growing portfolio of religion and theology journals, complementing our existing titles in this area and improving our current journal offerings to students and researchers around the world. Together with the editors and our partners at Biola, we look forward to developing and promoting the journals’ important content and disseminating it to a global audience.”
