Mark K. Wax, MD Portland, OR

Dr Mark Wax has been on the editorial board of the journal for many years. He has been and continues to be a regular contributor. With almost 200 publications and a dozen or so book chapters, he provides the journal with expert working experience. His interest is mainly in reconstructive surgery and he is the current editor for the plastic and reconstructive section of the journal. As an active member of the board of directors, he provides input into the policy making decisions of the Academy.

Dr Wax is the current coordinator for education for the AAO-HNS. As such he provides oversight for most of the educational activities that the AAO-HNS performs. He chairs the education executive committee and provides input to the specialty chairs who manage the individual educational committees. Dr Wax has been active in many other organizations. He will be the president of the American Head and Neck Society in 2013 after finishing a 7 year stint as treasurer.

Currently he is the director of the microvascular and reconstructive program at OHSU, where he also serves as the program director for the residency program. His fellowship has been active for over a decade and has produced many academic microvascular and reconstructive surgeons. The field of reconstructive surgery and rehabilitation of head and neck cancer patients are his primary interests.
