Rachel Hewett is a research fellow based at the Visual Impairment Centre for Teaching and Research in Department of Disability Inclusion and Special Needs in the School of Education, University of Birmingham, UK. For the past 6 years, she has been the full-time researcher working on a unique longitudinal qualitative study which has been following the experience of more than 80 young people with visual impairments as they have made the transition from compulsory education through to adulthood and the labor market. She is also preparing to submit her PhD thesis which has been investigating the transition experiences of young people with visual impairment into higher education.
