Dr. Charles M. Wood, (Ph.D. University of Missouri), is an Associate Professor of Marketing at The University of Tulsa. He joined the Department of Management & Marketing in 2000 after spending 2 years at Mississippi State University. His research interests include practical issues in buyer behavior, advertising, and innovation. To date Dr. Wood has published over 50 articles in both refereed journals and conference proceedings. His research has appeared in such outlets as the
Journal of Advertising, Journal of Retailing,
Journal of Business Ethics and the
Journal of Services Marketing among others. Wood has received numerous awards for his research including best in track awards, best in conference awards, the 2006 outstanding paper published in the
Journal of Consumer Marketing, a Citation of Research Excellence from the
Journal of Retailing, and a Fulbright Scholar Award to Dublin City University in 2015. Since arriving at The University of Tulsa he has been recognized at commencement with the University Teaching Award and the University Community Service Award (Medicine Wheel), has been named “Most Valuable Professor” by student athletes 4 times, and received the Collins College of Business “Innovative Teaching Award.” He is also known on campus for launching and running innovative interdisciplinary co-curricular programs that have brought great improvements to the campus and surrounding community. Dr. Wood co-authors a leading college textbook published by Pearson, “Advertising and Integrated Marketing Communication” with Sandy Moriarty (U of Colorado), Nancy Mitchell (U of Nebraska), and Bill Wells (U of Minnesota). His teaching interests include Consumer Behavior, Marketing Research, Advertising and IMC, and general business courses. He currently serves on two editorial review boards for academic journals and is a regular paper reviewer and session chair at marketing conferences. Dr. Wood also has eight years of work experience in the energy and media production industries. He is married with five children and lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
