Sage is returning to business as usual as much as possible. Therefore:
- Peer review – Editors are now seeing COVID-19 related manuscripts coming through peer review from all disciplines and Sage Editors are encouraged to return to normal working practices on these papers if they were expediating the peer review. If papers require fast tracking, they are treated on a case-by-case basis as robust peer review on all content is vital.
- Production – Sage aimed to support our authors by providing flexibility, if needed, on proof turnaround times. COVID related content continues to be collected and regularly rotated with most recent published articles via the Sage Journals microsite for COVID-19 research.
- Moving forward Sage is setting up a PubMed workflow for all COVID related content.Until now we were providing open access waivers on original research articles that focused on COVID-19 only. As we have all adapted to the pandemic, we have recognised that weneed to support all authors writing COVID related content rather than those providing original research. This workflow will work to ensure that Sage continues to support the WellcomeTrust’s COVID initiative that we signed in March 2020. Furthermore it will widen the reachand discoverability for your published COVID related content by placing them on the primarylocation for health related research (PubMed) ensuring other researchers will be able to find and take advantage of the work already published. As a result all paper types that contain one of the four main title words (covid-19’, 'sars-cov-2', 'coronavirus (COVID 19)' and 'pandemic') will be picked up automatically for the PubMed workflow.
- Sage’s author reuse policies support authors as they allow authors to share both the original submission and accepted manuscript at anytime, anywhere, and this is in line with the Wellcome Trust’s statement.
