In the latest edition of the Big Data and Social Research Newsletter, we look at how Social Network Analysis is changing in the era of big data, and talk more about the exciting new initiative from the University of Bath. Their innovative Public Data Lab, supported by SAGE Publishing, looks to facilitate social science research, teaching and public engagement activities around the future of the data society.
In this edition of SAGE’s big data and social research newsletter we're delighted to share that three new courses have been added to SAGE Campus, SAGE’s new online data science courses for social scientists aimed at helping researchers gain the skills they need to embrace the data revolution. Find out more about the full fall collection in the newsletter below:
This month’s Big Data Newsletter looks back at the first ever Social Science Foo Camp, a ‘non-conference conference’, co-hosted by SAGE, which brought together 250 of the world’s leading social scientists, technologists, business people and policy-makers to discuss the future of social science, the impact of technology and the possibilities for cross-discipline collaboration.
At the camp SAGE launched SAGE Ocean, a new initiative to support social scientists work with big data and new technology. Find out more in the latest edition.
SAGE Ocean announced today that it has awarded a Concept Grant to Text Wash, a new software tool that anonymizes personally identifiable text data, making it accessible to social scientists without compromising its usability for research.
If you’ve been invited by Sage to participate in usability testing, you might have some questions (such as ‘what’s that?’). We’ve created this page to answer some of the most common questions.
Usability testing is where we ask people to use a website or app and observe what they find easy, what they find more difficult, and how they feel about their experience.
