I will be using this book for an Interpreting Psychology Data module, alongside lectures and workshops for qualitative methods and analysis.
A good book to help students starting nvivo - also helps students with their literature review.
Unfortunately, the course was not offered in Autumn 2013. But it will most likely be offered in the near future.
It is an excellent book, which is comprehensive and instructive. However, the other book is more updated although they can compliment each other. We will for sure recommend this book as further reading.

A very useful, clearly set out text for understanding and applying Nvivo.
I will recommend this book to all researchers who are using/intend to use NVivo to analyse their qualitative data. My institution supports NVivo, so makes it available under licence from QSR. We offer researchers one day-long course on using the package. For many researchers, this is insufficient. They need a book that will help them understand what the package can do and how they can use it. This book was written by one of the developers of NVivo and is the best introduction I have seen. The only problem is the rapidity of version change. The book does not cover functions added since publication.
This book is brilliant. However, for the level at which this course is taught this book won't be directly recommended. Nevertheless, various sections will be referred to during the course of the programme delivery.

Designed from the outset to be an overview of NVivo qualitative computing software it succeeds admirably. Lyn Richards has done a remarkable job using plain language clear examples to explain how a researcher could use the suggested methods and approaches to obtain their required qualitative research goals.
The demonstration software CD that is included with the book allows the reader to make full use of the examples given by the author within their relevant chapters, and to thereby explore the accompanying tutorials to their maximum.
Lyn Richards is a Research Professor of Qualitative Methodology and this is evident throughout her book, which is not only a practical handbook but also an invaluable resource book for qualitative research of all kinds including tips on designing, starting and managing a project.
This book offers a step by step helpful guide to those wishing to use NVIVO. It is recommended as a supplementary text for those wishing to use it to to support their data collection and analysis. Specifically for those using qualitative research methods.
