Nancy R. Mudrick

Nancy R. Mudrick (Ph.D., Brandeis University) is Professor in the School of Social Work at Syracuse University. Dr. Mudrick teaches courses in U.S. social welfare and mental health policy, research methodology, and program evaluation. Her research focuses on disability policy in the areas of civil rights, health, and employment. She has worked with the Disability Rights Education & Defense Fund on several projects, among them an evaluation of federal agency enforcement of disability civil rights laws and an examination of the state of healthcare for American with disabilities. Both projects were for the National Council on Disability. Dr. Mudrick’s publications focus on disability issues in the areas of employment and health, disability-based discrimination and civil rights, and childhood disability. In addition to her work on disability topics, she has directed federally-funded child welfare training grants and evaluated demonstration projects of child welfare services. Most recently she was co-principal investigator of a 5-year Children’s Bureau training grant to Syracuse University for educating current and future child welfare workers. Dr. Mudrick served on the Board of Directors of the Society for Disability Studies, is a longstanding member of the American Public Health Association Disability Section, and a member of NASW. She serves on the editorial board of several journals.
