This book is outstanding. It is both comprehensive and precise in details while it contains real-life information of high value.
If I were to recommend only one sole book on NLP coaching, this would be it. I'm hoping for a (proper) German translation.
Bob Thomson's First Steps in Coaching makes brief reference to the NLP approach. This encouraged me to find out more. Grimley's book introduces you the NLP coaching in a structured and informative way.
The 'model' - 'theory' -'application' - 'case study'- 'reflection' structure takes the reader through a developmental understanding of NLP coaching. This is effective for those who have a superficial understanding of NLP (I include myself here) but lack any worthwhile academic depth.
NLP's perceived shortcomings are noted, with the challenges of 'Evidence for NLP Effectiveness' being clearly presented. A very useful text for those approaching this field in different ways.
Our students are not yet ready to consider another approach to analyzing their coaching and supervisory styles. We will likely recommend this book in future, though.
This is an interesting book, and approaches the subject from a reasonably objective/critically-aware perspective (which is rare in this topic area). While I do think that it could have done with a lot closer editing (for clarity and readability in some sections) I think it is appropriate for the Year 2/3 undergrads I will be recommending it to. An excellent and easy-to-read explanation of one of the more difficult theoretical ideas.
This text clearly lays out the principles and practices of NLP in an accessible way, with lots of practical ideas and case studies to support the implementation of the NLP approach in practice. My students have found this text useful to further support in-class delivery on this topic.
For many the exploration of NLP begins and sadly terminates at the point of how a set of models and/ or techniques might be applied. Seldom does one come across an erudite work that addresses both theoretical approaches alongside utility. This text does it admirably and within the supportive framework of coaching others. A must read for anyone seriously seeking to understand both the paradigm and the principles of NLP and coaching
This is an extensive and practice guide to NLP. We will recommend this text to level 5 and 6 Supporting Teaching and Learning Foundation Degree and B.A. Top Up. The text will also be useful for planning staff CPD sessions.
i use this book in order to feed into my lesson preparation rather than a book for students at the moment. It has some useful communication techniques that students don't always think about or even consider, so i find it useful in developing seminar sessions which aren't so predictable!
The book is well-written and fairly eays to follow. It explains the role of NLP in the role of coaching.
Having skim-read most of the book I cannot say that I can readily use the book, nor recommend it for the level of student I currently engage with.
