A useful book for Masters and PhD students
This book relates to social and healthcare research situations in the main, however some chapters can be generally applied; it was of particular use and interest when studying the ethical implications of research and has a very good section on Literature Reviews and research design. I used the book as a classroom resource on occasion to broaden the students learning.A few students found it quite complex in parts but a couple of students borrowed it from me for the Ethics and Literature review sections which they found helpful!

The book is clearly oriented toward graduate students. I like the overall theme of the book, and it is a wonderful introduction to graduate-level research projects (especially those that involve funding), but it is too advanced for my undergraduates.
Very interesting book, hits the level needed for these students well, and is right on topic.
This is a great book for students at the beginning of any design project. The structure of the book allows students to dip in and out of it. This makes for a very useful book to use in conjunction with other research literature.

This is a very user friendly text and a useful addition to our module reading list. What I particularly like for students is the chapter on research ethics and the sections that give students some focus on the future such as working with others and careers. These sections give the book an added employability dimension.
This is an excellent resource for PhD students undertaking research in education and social sciences. I am recommending to students as it offers sound advice and support regarding all stages of the research project.
The value of this text is its anticipation that the research activity of the student will continue beyond formal education.Beginning with research practice as part of a postgraduate programme of study, the book moves through the skills needed to successfully design and implement a research project. This book assumes that research will continue beyond University and provides a series of useful 'transition' suggestions. For example, to guidelines to costing research projects are likely to prove very useful for the newly qualified field-researcher.
Very clear and easy book for students who have never conducted research before. Simple and easy read for newcomers.
This is a very helpful book for anyone embarking on their research career. It is well written and draws on a lot of examples, making the research process not so daunting.
