Kathryn C. MacCluskie Cleveland State University, Cleveland, Ohio, Cleveland State University, USA

Brief Bio: Dr. MacCluskie has been a full-time Counselor Educator at CSU since 1994. Prior to joining the faculty at CSU, she worked as a psychologist in several public settings, including a community mental health center, the Federal Prison system, and the Veterans Administration. She brings to CSU a strong background in assessment and treatment with adolescents and adults. In addition to teaching at CSU, she is a Psychological Supervisor for several individuals completing their clinical hours to obtain licensure as psychologists. Her hobbies include spending time with her family, skiing, drumming, cycling, gardening, and painting. Research Interests: Dr. MacCluskie's current research interests lie in the realm of refinement of her professional activities. For example, her current project is a textbook intended for the introductory counseling skills course. This is a text intended to create the groundwork for training students to become outstanding clinicians. Her main focus is upon challenging students to improve their skills, and researching how to create conditions in which counselor trainees discover how their own beings interact with their clients in the helping process. Dr. MacCluskie's secondary research interest is transpersonal psychology and the integration of spirituality and counseling. In the recent past, Dr. MacCluskie has also researched IRB procedures at other institutions in order to improve the quality and responsiveness of the IRB at CSU.
