Emily Landry Washington and Lee University, USA

Dr. Landry is an interdisciplinary scholar and Assistant Professor of Business Administration at Washington and Lee University’s Williams School of Commerce, Economics, and Politics. Her work highlights social contexts and ethical considerations of business. Her research and teaching convene around entrepreneurship, business ethics, and sustainability with a focus on hybrid social enterprises, their stakeholders, and B Corps. She uses global and comparative approaches to understand how for-profit corporations reconcile social and environmental priorities with profit and efficiency. Current projects explore various phenomena of the B Corp movement, and she has a long-term collaboration with the University of Havana to bridge research and practice for the emerging Cuban private sector. Her research grants include a Fulbright Scholarship for field work in Budapest, Hungary, and a Kauffman Foundation Dissertation Award to study the emergence of regional B Corp networks in the United States. She has been a faculty member in departments of business, government, and sociology. Courses taught include business ethics, entrepreneurship, environmental sociology, the modern world system, and research methods. She is also a founding board member of B Academics, a 501c3 nonprofit devoted to research, teaching, and engagement with the B Corp community (www.bacademics.org).
