Carles Muntaner, MD, PhD, MHS, is professor of nursing, public health, and psychiatry at the University of Toronto, Canada. He has been a principal investigator on primary data collection grants across Canada and the United States. He has served as a consultant for the World Health Organization/The Pan American Health Organization (WHO/PAHO) and worked with governments in Latin America. He participated in the “Marmot Review” and the review on social determinants and the health divide in the WHO European region. He co-chaired the Employment Conditions Network (EMCONET) of the WHO Commission on Social Determinants of Health. His awards include the Wade Hampton Frost Award from the epidemiology section of the American Public Health Association and the membership in the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences for his contributions to social inequalities in health research.
