Very user friendly text for those who may feel overcome by the thought of a dissertation. Chapter headings are inviting as they reflect baseline concerns. What 'should I do now' sections assits to convert the knowledge into practical writing skills. Thoughtful supportive published style throughout book.
This is a great book for helping students to understand what is expected of them and helping to begin to plan their project. It is well structured and helps to alleviate their anxieties of getting started.
This is an excellent book, with nostalgic imagery to add humour to the way the material is presented. I will certainly be recommending this book to my students.

Very good primer and introduction to what doing a dissertation entails
An interesting guide for students who begin their final year and proceed to writing their dissertations.
The book is an easy straight- through read or a good one to have on stand by for a quick dip into when a specific topic is required. It supports all the key ideas with useful chapter summaries and key texts to explore issues in greater depth. I'm not sure if the illustrations add much value to the work, but I think the chapter summaries are great and will certainly incorporate them into my delivery for equine undergraduate and Masters students.
Excellent well written book superb for the dissertation
I have found this book to be very useful when supervising students in their dissertation. It has helped me explain very clearly what it is they need to do in each aspect of their research project. I have also recommended to the students that they use this book due to the clear and accessible way that it has been laid out and written.

This builds on the 1st edition which has been used as a very helpful introductory text for social work students undertaking their dissertation. I am not convinced the sketches add value to to the text!
This text has been well received by a diverse range of students and is well structured and easy for the student to follow. The author has set out to make the topic of interest to the student and to be relevant across a range of study areas. I would recommend this text.
